“When honor and the Law no longer stand on the same side of the line, how do we choose”― Anne Bishop

 PROGRAMS:

VOICES AGAINST CORRUPTION FORUM

With corruption, there can be no sustainable development, nor political stability. By breeding and feeding on inefficiency, corruption invariably, strangles the system of social organization. In fact, corruption literally is the antithesis of development and progress”................Olusegun Obasanjo

Government cannot tackle corruption effectively on its own, other than in highly authoritarian and potentially abusive ways. Civil society organizations need to engage with each other, and with governments and the private sector, so that our voice is heard and taken seriously by policymakers at all levels.

The coalition-building approach enables the three parties – government, the private sector and civil society organizations – to find areas of common interest where no single government or company would otherwise be willing to unilaterally apply more responsible standards of behavior.

The Voices Against Corruption Forum is aimed at fostering actions for integrity within the Liberian society by promoting (a) open discussion on integrity and anti-corruption issues, (b) disseminating information on what individuals and groups can do to curb corruption and also seeks to make space for concerned and marginalized groups especially youths to voice their opinion and put forward solutions.

YOUTH INTEGRITY & LEADERSHIP TRAINING

Throughout history, young people have played an active role in shaping major social and political advancements. Today’s growing globalization and cross-border movements create an environment which is increasingly diverse in terms of culture and religion. Young people’s contribution to understanding the impact of this diversity on everyday life as well as politics is now more crucial than ever. Moreover, as they constitute the largest segment of population in many regions, the role of youth in shaping their country’s response to the fight against corruption is imperative and vital.

The battle against corruption cannot be fought and won by the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission alone or by continuing to deal with the older leadership that we say is corrupt. It also needs the new ideas from those who will run economies and the state in the years to come, it needs the fresh blood of the youth who possess both the capability and will to shape a prescribed path for their own future.
